The Ancient Box Deck focuses on New Ancient Pokemon from Paradox Rift and Temporal Forces. This concept is similar to the Future Pokemon in Future Box. All cards marked with an Ancient logo have abilities that can benefit each other. Using a combination of ancient Pokemon cards can make for a powerful deck.

The Ancient attackers are Koraidon, Roaring Moon, Flutter Mane and Roaring Moon ex. Most of these cards are single-prize card attackers. Pairing these attackers with an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule can give them the same HP as an ex but if knocked out will only cost you a single Prize card. Key Cards In Ancient Box Deck

Roaring Moon is an essential card due to its Vengeful Feathers attack, which deals an additional 10 damage for each Ancient card in the discard pile. Roaring Moon is a single Prize card attacker that can have up to 200 HP with the help of the Ancient Booster Energy Capsule. It may be difficult to gather enough Ancient cards in the discard pile to knock out a 2 prize card Pokemon with a single hit. However, using this card will allow you to take down a 2 prize card Pokemon with just 2 hits, making it much easier.

Card Type / HP / Stage: Dark / 140 / Basic

[D][D] Vengeful Feathers: 70+ damage. This attack does 10 more damage for each Ancient card in your discard pile.

[D][C][C][C] Speed Wing: 120 damage.

Weakness / Resistance / Retreat Cost: Gx2 / / 2

Roaring Moon

Koraidon is our next attacker because of its attack, Primeval Battering. Primeval Battering does 30 damage for each of your Ancient Pokemon in play. The damage can go up to 180 for only 2 energy. However, you will likely need a Radiant Greninja in play so the damage will be capped at 150.

Card Type / HP / Stage: Dragon / 140 / Basic

[F][C] Primeval Battering: 30x damage. This attack does 30 damage for each of your Ancient Pokémon in play.

[F][F][C] Shred: 130 damage. This attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon.

Koraidon

Flutter Mane is a versatile card with a good move set. Witching Hour Flutter prevents the opponent's active Pokemon from using its ability. You can use this ability to block a multitude of pesky abilities. Flutter Mane is a single Prize card attacker with a good attack, dealing 90 damage and an additional 10 damage to the opponent’s benched Pokemon. So Flutter Mane is a card you can quickly use at the start of the game or if you need to get past an ability. Flutter Mane is an ancient Pokemon. So it can be discarded or kept on a bench for either Koraidon or Roaring Moon.

Ability: Midnight Fluttering
As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, your opponent's Active Pokémon has no Abilities, except for Midnight Fluttering.

[C][C][C] Hex Hurl: 90 damage. Put 2 damage counters on your opponent's Benched Pokémon in any way you like.

Flutter Mane

Professor Sada’s Vitality will help us power up our Pokemon and draw cards from the deck. Professor Sada’s Vitality will work with Radiant Greninja to get energy cards in the discard pile and then quickly distribute them to our Ancient Pokemon. Once again, Professor Sada's Vitality is an ancient card. So it can benefit our Roaring Moon even once used.

Card Text: Choose up to 2 of your Ancient Pokemon and attach a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to each of them. If you attached any Energy this way, draw 3 cards.

Professor Sada's Vitality

Radiant Greninja is a powerful card because of its ability to draw cards and discard energy. During the game, discard energy cards through Radiant Greninja to aid Professor Sada's Vitality. And this comes with the added benefit of drawing 2 additional cards.

Card Text: Ability — Concealed Cards

You must discard an Energy card from your hand to use this Ability. Once during your turn, you may draw 2 cards.

Attack 1: [1WW] Moonlight Shuriken

Discard 2 Energy from this Pokemon. This attack does 90 damage to 2 of your opponent's Pokemon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Radiant Greninja

When playing Ancient Box, your objective is to get Koraidon or Roaring Moon in your active position and start attacking early by accelerating energy. You should find Roaring Moon ex to defeat strong Pokemon. At the beginning of the game, Koraidon is better as it will take a while to start doing mass damage with Roaring Moon.

To accelerate energy, you will want to discard them by using cards like Ultra Ball, Earthen Vessel, Explorer’s Guidance, Radiant Greninja and others. Accelerate your Energy with Dark Patch or Professor Sada’s Vitality.

To draw cards, you can use various cards such as Radiant Greninja, Awakening Drum, Nest Ball, Ultra Ball, Earthen Vessel, and Explorer’s Guidance. To Draw cards use Radiant Greninja, Awakening Drum, Nest Ball, Ultra Ball, Earthen Vessel, Explorer’s Guidance and others. Radiant Greninja will be our most valuable drawing card by allowing us to draw 2 cards and discard an energy card every turn.

This deck has Pokegear 3.0 to help us find our supporter cards, a switch cart if we need to swap out an active Pokemon, a Super Rod if we need to retrieve cards from the discard pile and a Pal Pad to help get back our Explorer’s Guidance or Professor Sada’s Vitality. A good alternative to this deck is the Raging Bolt ex deck.

How To Play Ancient Box Deck

A good hand in the Ancient Box deck would include attackers like Koraidon or Roaring Moon, cards that can aid in energy acceleration and cards that aid the attacking Pokemon. This is a sample hand from the Ancient Box deck and how to play with it.

To begin your turn, use a Nest Ball to search for a Radiant Greninja or Koraidon/Roaring Moon, and put it on your bench. Then, play Explorer's Guidance to draw two cards. Then we can use the Earthen Vessel and discard our Dark energy. To end the turn, we can attach the fighting energy to Koraidon. If you haven't drawn Professor Sada's Vitality or a card that can find one, such as Pokegear 3.0. You should draw one the next turn. Professor Sada's Vitality would allow you to place our discarded energy cards onto our Ancient Pokemon.

Now draw three additional cards and start attacking with Koraidon. From here, you can keep accelerating energy and improving your bench with Roaring Moon ex, Radiant Greninja, Koraidon's and Roaring Moons. Take advantage of Ancient Booster Energy capsules to buff your attackers.
