Klawf is a rock-type Pokemon introduced in Generation 9. This Crab Pokemon is known for living near cliffs. It is also quite an amusing Pokemon. However, the recent Klawf card in Paradox Rift is not amusing. Its abilities may seem basic. But they have immense power when used correctly.

In Recent months this card has become super popular and has even had a new deck made to take advantage of this card. Now a month after Paradox Rift’s release it’s been hailed as one of the strongest budget cards and its deck as one of the fastest to charge up and start attacking with.

Why Is Klawf Powerful?

The Klawf Pokemon card is powerful because of its Unhinged Scissors attack. This attack does 30 damage but can do an extra 160 if it has any special conditions. Unhinged Scissors only require 2 colourless energy. Using a double turbo energy can fulfil this.

So Klawf can attack turn 1 if you go second. If you go second, you can easily find a double turbo energy. And a card with a special condition applying move. Allowing him to get turn 1 KOs. This card is even more powerful when used in the Klawf/Electrode V deck.

Klawf/Electrode V Deck

The Key cards in this deck are:

  • Klawf

  • Hisuian Electrode V

  • Brute Bonnet

  • Radiant Hisuian Sneasler

  • Spicy Seasoned Curry

The Klawf and Hisuian Electrode V Deck is one of the most consistent first-turn attackers in the current Meta. What makes this deck Interesting is that both of the main attackers Klawf and Hisuian Electrode V take advantage of special conditions on them to do gigantic damage.

So to take advantage of this, the deck has numerous cards that cause special conditions on itself. The cards that cause special conditions in this deck are Spicy seasoned curry and Brute Bonnet. Radiant Hisuian Sneasler is another essential card. This card places more damage counters on your opponent’s poisoned Pokemon during the Pokemon check-up.

When playing this deck, you want to go second to use support cards and be the first to deal damage. On the first turn, you want to get Hisuian Electrode V or Klawf in the active position. Then use Arven or Battle VIP Pass to grab a Brute Bonnet with an Ancient Booster energy or a Spicy Curry. This will allow either Electrode V or Klawf to start attacking. If you attack with Hisuian Electrode V, no energy cards are required.

But if you start attacking with Klawf, you are more likely to do more damage as it deals more with a singular special condition attached than Hisuian Electrode. In the later game, cards like Radiant Hisuian Sneasler will help do extra damage on your opponent’s active Pokemon if poisoned. You will also want to use Spicy Curry and Brute Bonnet’s Toxic Powder to do 200 damage with Hisuian Electrode V without a single energy card!

Klawf and its deck aren’t ever likely to be tournament winners. It is still a good deck. Also, Klawf and most of the cards in its deck are incredibly cheap and are easily accessible in the new Paradox Rift set. Currently, Klawf is going for $0.50. So, if you want to pick up the deck, it won’t cost you much. And it is fun to battle with. However, it might be worth checking the Ancient Box Deck or Raging Bolt ex deck as good alternatives.
