The 10 Most Expensive Cards In the Scarlet & Violet series are: Shiny Charizard ex, Shiny Mew ex, Iono, Magikarp, Roaring Moon ex, Shiny Gardevoir ex, Charizard ex, Blastoise ex and Venusaur ex.

The 10 Most Expensive Scarlet & Violet Series Cards

Venusaur ex grew in value due to its beautiful artwork and iconic status in the Pokemon community. Scarlet 151 gave classic Pokemon a new illustration, including this Venusaur. Venusaur is one of the three final starter evolutions in the Kanto region and is the third Pokemon in the Pokedex.

Tranquil Flower heals 60 damage to one of your Pokemon. The ability is good, but the card gets hurt by its attack. Dangerous Toxwhip confuses and poisons the opposing Pokemon but deals a low 150 damage. Venusaur's ex has a fun deck but is average at best.

In my opinion, the artwork is good. In the illustration, we can see a Venusaur surrounded by vegetation and flowers. The concept matches the Pokemon perfectly but the execution lacks depth and detail. Veunusaur is an iconic card and is the 10th most expensive in the series.

10 Venusaur ex (Special Illustration Rare) #198

Blastoise Ex is very expensive because of its incredible popularity in the Pokemon community, remarkable illustration and Blastoise’s capable moveset. Firstly, a prototype Blastoise card was the first Pokemon Card ever created and helped kick off the Pokemon TCG as we know it. Blastoise is also one of the most famous Pokemon and is a favourite final evolution starter for many fans.

This Special Illustration is perfect. I love how the illustration gives Blastoise incredible depth and detail. Compared to the flat feel of the Venusaur ex card. On the card, we see Blastoise calmly sinking in the Ocean.

The card’s attacks are decent. Solid Shell, reduces damage by 30. And the attack, Twin Cannons, does 140 damage for each Water energy you discard up to 280. Blastoise ex has high HP, takes less damage, and can deal up to 280 damage with one attack. That is quite strong. The card has a deck built around it called the Blastoise ex deck. However, it isn't that competitive.

9 Blastoise ex (Special Illustration Rare) #200

This Charizard ex from Obsidian Flames has a high value because of its illustration representing the terra-typing of the card and Charizard ex’s dominance in its current deck. Charizard needs no introduction as the 2nd most popular Pokemon after Pikachu and an iconic Pokemon in the TCG because of its history of expensive cards.

The Charizard ex-Special Illustration Rare from the Obsidian Flames set has cool artwork. This illustration differs from others with its crystal design which is common in terra-type Pokemon. The card depicts Charizard standing at full strength with a crystal crown. You have to admit this is very epic.

In the competitive scene, the Charizard ex-deck is easily the most dominant and has taken top spots in numerous tournaments.

Gardevoir ex is the most popular card from the Hoenn region and has incredible artwork and moveset, which is why the card has a high value. Gardevoir ex is one of the popular shiny illustration rares in Paldean Fates. This card has a majestic artwork which compliments Gardevoir’s blue colour. On the card, you can see Gardevior wandering through a forest illuminated by blue moonlight seeping through the trees.

Gardevoir's card has an ability which can accelerate energy to Pokemon for two damage counters. It deals 190 damage and can heal itself of any special conditions. Gardevoir ex is a valuable card in the Gardevoir ex deck.

7 Shiny Gardevoir ex (Special Illustration Rare) #233

Roaring Moon ex has become an expensive card because it's a favourite Paradox Pokemon and has risen to power in the TCG with the Roaring Moon ex deck. Roaring Moon is an ancestor of Salamence and one of the few Paradox Pokemon that outshines the original, making it a fan favourite.

In the Pokemon TCG, Roaring Moon ex has grown in popularity thanks to its strong deck Roaring Moon ex. The Roaring Moon ex deck is quite capable, with Roaring Moon as its primary attacker.

The Special Illustration card is considered the best card in the Paradox Rift set due to its artwork that showcases the strength of the featured Pokemon. In the illustration, we can see the Roaring Moon creating strong winds that disrupt the surrounding area. Roaring Moon ex boasts a strong moveset and excellent artwork, which makes this card the sixth most expensive on the list.

The Magikarp in Paldea Evolved has a high price tag because of the dopey Pokemon’s popularity and the unique artwork used on the card. Magikarp is the dopey fish that everyone underestimates. The Magikarp illustration has grown in popularity due to its unique artwork.

The illustration is extraordinary, it's drawn by the same artist who created the popular Giratina V card. I love the faint Gyarados that float above the Magikarp. Representing what it will become. This card makes Magikarp even more lovable making it the 5th most valuable card in the Scarlet & Violet series.

Iono has become an expensive card because of her popularity and competitive viability in the Pokemon TCG. Iono is a popular gym leader for the Levincia Gym. She is a streamer/influencer who specialises in Electric Pokemon.

Her card allows both players to shuffle their hands and draw a card for each of their remaining Prize cards. Iono is used to disrupt an opponent's hand and instantly discard cards. It is a popular choice in top decks.

Her artwork is very vibrant and fits the energetic and excited nature of the trainer. Iono’s popularity and strength place it in the 4th position on this list.

Mew ex’s popularity, moveset and historic artwork make this card incredibly expensive. Mew, the ancestor of all Pokemon, is one of the most iconic Pokemon.

The artwork on this card depicts Mew's opening scene from the Pokemon movie. In the scene, Mew ascends above the water in a bubble. Mew ex’s artwork perfectly depicts this legendary scene. Mew ex's cartoon illustration makes the card even more unique and fun.

Mew ex is a highly valued card in the competitive scene due to its strength. The card has been featured in numerous top decks and plays a crucial role in the Mew Vmax deck. Its ability, Restart, ensures that players consistently have three cards in their hand, while its attack allows players to replicate an opponent's Pokemon's attack for only three colourless energy. Mew ex is considered the best card from Paldean Fates and is definitely worth its price.

Charizard ex from Scarlet & Violet 151 is the second most expensive card in the Scarlet & Violet series because of its majestic artwork and Charizard’s immense popularity. It's common knowledge that a Charizard card is valuable, but this particular Charizard is worth the hype.

The artwork is beautiful, with Charizard flying past a Volcano and a sunset illuminating the sky. Charizard ex’s illustration focuses on the stunning scenery and landscape.

2 Charizard ex (Special Illustration Rare) #199

Shiny Charizard ex’s immense value can be expected because it’s a shiny Charizard, it's that simple.

As we’ve discussed Charizard is incredibly popular in the Pokemon TCG so any card with it is guaranteed to be valuable. However, with the addition of being a Shiny, this card has skyrocketed in value.

The artwork takes the regular Special Illustration Charizard ex to a new level. The red and black colours complement the crystal design perfectly. Honestly, this is such a sick card. It's not a surprise that Shiny Charizard ex is the most expensive card in the Scarlet & Violet series.
