Is The Paradox Rift ETB Worth It?

It depends. Paradox Rift is a great set, one of the best of this era, but the ETB is average. The price has fallen and there's nothing special in it. If you want Paradox Rift packs, buy them on their own. It's more cost-effective. The ETB does come with a promo card, but it's not worth the extra cost of buying the Elite Trainer box for more money.

Unless you need something else in the ETB, I recommend buying booster packs separately. However, the set is great overall, with new mechanics, concepts, and artwork that make it worth picking up for collectors and players alike. Just don't buy it through the Paradox Rift ETB.

What’s Included in the Paradox Rift ETB?

The Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box (ETB) comes in two varieties, one based on Roaring Moon, arguably the most important Pokémon in the set, and the other based on Iron Valiant. These two ETBs are essentially the same, with a few minor design differences. Both boxes include the following main items:

  • 9 Pokemon TCG Paradox Rift Booster packs

  • 1 promo card featuring Scream Tail or Iron Bundle

  • 65 card sleeves featuring Roaring Moon or Iron Valiant

  • 45 Energy Cards

  • 6 damage-counter dice

  • 1 coin-flip die

  • 2 plastic condition markers

  • 4 dividers to organise cards

  • Pokémon TCG Live Code card

There are many upsides and downsides to the Paradox Rift Elite Trainer box.

Pros:

  • Both Promo Cards are beautiful with stunning scenery and a slick design. They include Scream Tail for the Roaring Moon box and Iron Bundle for the Iron Valliant box. It’s a shame that these are promo cards as this greatly reduces their value.

  • Paradox Rift is a great set that introduces Ancient & Future Pokemon which I personally really like. Also, many cards in this set are competitively viable and have unrivalled artwork.

  • This ETB is quite cheap compared to other Pokemon TCG Elite Trainer boxes. For example, the Scarlet & Violet 151 ETB is currently valued at over $50 and has been out for a longer time.

Cons:

  • Although the Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box (ETB) is less expensive than previous ETBs, it's still more expensive than the booster packs individually. So, unless you're really keen on getting something specific from the ETB, it might be better to just buy Paradox Rift booster packs.

Paradox Rift Pull Rate

The Paradox Rift Expansion Booster Box (ETB) and set have new pull rates for rare cards. Hyper Rare and Special Illustration Rare pull rates have decreased slightly, but Double Rare pull rates have increased slightly. Paradox Rift also has twice as many Special Illustration Rare and Hyper Rare cards as previous Scarlet & Violet sets.

This means that rare Paradox Rift cards will likely hold their value better, but they will also be more difficult to collect, especially for serious collectors who want to complete the set.

Chase Cards From Paradox Rift ETB

I'm thrilled with the cards in Paradox Rift! The top chase cards feature new Pokémon with stunning artwork. Here are the most valuable and popular chase cards:

  1. Roaring Moon ex (Special Illustration Rare) Price $90

This card is the most valuable in the set.

  2. Iron Valliant ex (Special Illustration Rare) Price $40

Iron Valliant ex has a beautiful artwork with a sunset and other Future Pokemon featuring in the background.

  3. Iron Hands ex (Special Illustration Rare) Price $20

Iron Hands ex shows this Pokemon punching its way through multiple brick walls.

Conclusion

The Pokémon TCG Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box is a commendable product, albeit not necessarily essential for seasoned players. However, it is an excellent choice for beginners, especially given the current lower prices. Paradox Rift is a set that is definitely worth acquiring, with a wide range of desirable cards available.
