There's nothing more exciting than opening Pokemon Packs and discovering the perfect cards hidden within. Whether you're a seasoned Pokemon trainer or a newcomer, looking for the greatest Pokemon Packs may be a thrilling trip. Over 100 Sets have been released since 1996. In 2023, these packs still bring joy to millions of admirers with gorgeous cards that might be worth a lot of money! In this list, I'll examine the 10 Best Pokemon Packs to Buy This Year, ranging from the cheapest packs to those with the best artwork and pull rates.

Silver Tempest is an excellent expansion with an affordable price, captivating artwork and a high pull rate. Released on November 11th, 2022, this set is another recent and solid choice. Whilst this set doesn’t give us anything game-changing It doesn’t disappoint. This set has decent pull rates with a 1 in 3 chance of a hit and some of my favourite artworks to date.
The Sword & Shield was my favourite series ever and by far the most memorable. Silver Tempest was the last main set in the Sword & Shield expansion. The expansion brought us a final goodbye to a legendary series and many impactful cards like Lugia Vstar,
Some of the most popular cards in this set are Serena (Full Art), Rayquaza Vmax, and Lugia V (Alt-Art). Silver Tempest is a great pick and is only £4 per pack.

Brilliant Stars is an excellent set for players and collectors who want to open strong cards at a bargain. Brilliant Stars is reffered to as the second-best set in Sword & Shield. This set is unique as it features VSTAR Pokemon Cards and a subset called the trainer gallery. The trainer gallery is a collection of rare trainer cards in the reverse holo slot.
These full-art trainer cards allow for a greater chance of pulling a good card in the reverse holo and holo slots. The more valuable cards in this set are Arceus V (Alt-Art), Charizard VSTAR (Rainbow Rare), and Charizard V (Alt-Art). The latter is worth over £100. Lastly, this set isn’t easy to find but is priced cheaply.
9 - Brilliant Stars
The Pokemon GO expansion is a brilliant set which bridges the app to the TCG. The Pokemon Go Set released on July 1st, 2022 is an outstanding reminder of the global phenomenon of Pokemon Go. This set perfectly resembles the theme of Pokemon Go with the recognisable design on the packs and cards. This pack has grown in popularity as it brings groups in the Pokemon franchise together. Pokemon Card collectors and Pokemon Go Players.
The most stunning cards in this set are Mewtwo Vstar (Rainbow Rare), Dragonite Vstar (Rainbow Rare), and Mewtwo V (Alt-Art). A cool Easter egg In the Pokemon Go Set is you can pull a Ditto disguised as a different Pokemon. Whilst not as easy to find this set is roughly the same price at $3.
8 - Pokemon Go
Paldean Fates is an excellent collector set with beautiful Special illustrations, shiny cards and references to the history of the Pokemon TCG. Paldean Fates was released this year and has been extremely popular.
The expansion follows the steps of previous shiny sets like Hidden Fates and Shining Fates. Paldean Fates has shiny versions of the most prominent cards in the Scarlet & Violet series. It also has multiple expensive cards.
The best cards in this set are Iono SIR, Shiny Gardevoir ex-SIR, Shiny Mew ex-SIR and Shiny Charizard ex-SIR. Currently, each booster pack is worth $4/£3.
7 - Paldean Fates
Scarlet & Violet 151 is the best Scarlet & Violet set because it celebrates the first 151 Pokemon from Generation 1. All the beloved original Pokemon were celebrated with new cards and artwork.
It's no wonder that this expansion was so popular and cherished. It gives the best Pokemon some of the best artworks. However, the set's immense popularity has caused its price to go up.
The problem with this expansion is that there are too many good cards. The most expensive Scarlet & Violet 151 cards are Venusaur ex-SIR, Blastoise ex-SIR and Charizard ex-SIR. The latter is worth $140. This is the perfect set for long-time fans.
6 - Scarlet & Violet 151
Fusion Strike is an all-around super set for collectors with staggering artwork and for players with overpowered cards.
Fusion Strike when released was the largest Pokemon expansion set ever in the 25-year history of the Pokemon TCG. This set has amazing artwork, new mechanics with the new battle style “Fusion Strike” and new chase cards that have high values.
The cards in the set were so powerful they still impact the competitive scene today. Fusion Strike was an incredible set that featured new styles of artwork and gave Pokemon like Mew and Gengar some of the best-looking cards ever.
The cards that you can look out for in Fusion Strike are Mew Vmax, Espeon Vmax (Alt-Art), and Gengar Vmax (Alt Art) which is worth £145 when ungraded but is worth £325 in PSA 10. You can get a pack of Fusion Strike for $4.
4 - Fusion Strike
Celebrations is the best set for nostalgic fans of the Pokemon TCG. It’s quite hard to know where to start with such an extraordinary set. Celebrations was created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon TCG. In this set are reprints of some of the most iconic cards since 1996.
The nostalgia this brings is unreal. Some of the famous cards included are Dark Gyarados, Shining Magikarp, Rocket’s Zapdos, Red Cheek Pikachu, and of course Base Set Charizard. This is a must-buy for anyone who enjoys the Pokemon TCG. Lastly, this set currently has a price of $7 due to its popularity.
3 - Celebrations
Crown Zenith was an extraordinary expansion at the end of Sword & Shield. This special set introduced a new type of artwork which would become incredibly prominent in Scarlet & Violet. Crown Zenith had many unique attributes like a nearly 50% pull rare, the Gallarian Gallery and the 4 best gold cards in history!
The Gallarian Gallery was an exclusive collection of cards which could only be pulled from the reverse holo slot. Prominent cards in Crown Zenith include Mewtwo Vstar (Gallarian Gallery), Charizard Vstar, Arceus Vstar (Gallarian Gallery), and Giratina Vstar. This popular set isn’t easy to find and is a bit more pricey when compared to some of the alternatives.

Lastly, Evolving Skies has amazing chase cards that bring excitement to every collector. Some of the cards included in this set you Must look out for are Leafeon Vmax, Rayquaza Vmax (Full Art), and Umbreon Vmax (Alt-Art) which is worth a staggering £400 ungraded and £700 in PSA 10!
